2. Good Takeaway #1: Wins vs. Nets & Mavs

Coming off of a bad takeaway, let’s look at a good one. The Charlotte Hornets had a rough two-game stretch coming into their game against the Nets. They dropped their first two games, one against the Cleveland Cavaliers and the other against the OKC Thunder, and many fans believed that they were going to drop their third.

It’s not hard to see why fans feared this. The Nets are loaded with talent, many believing them to be the best team in the East. For the Hornets to drop this one, would have meant that they would start the season 0-3, something that would not do good for the psyche of this young team. It was a must-win for the Hornets.

The Charlotte Hornets played with their hair on fire, having complete control of the game the entire time. The Hornets allowed the Nets to score, but when they needed to make a stop, they did just that, made a stop!

While this win was impressive, the Hornets couldn’t feel too good about themselves because they had to face the Dallas Mavericks in Dallas. Unlike the game against the Nets, where it was a pretty tight game, the Charlotte Hornets ran away with this game against the Mavs. They did allow the MAvericks to make a run in the fourth quarter, but they weathered the storm and beat Luka Dončić and the Mavs 118-99.

These were two signature wins for Coach James Borrego and the Hornets. Instead of going 0-4, something that all fans sort of expected after losing the first two, they made it back to .500 with a record of 2-2.
