Charlotte Hornets: 4 Takeaways From the First 10 Games
4. Good Takeaway #2: LaMelo Ball
You know I had to do it! Let’s finish this article with a good takeaway, well, let’s just say the best takeaway through the first 10 games. When the Charlotte Hornets drafted LaMelo Ball, there were being who said he would be a bust, but there were also a lot of people who said that he would be better than expected. You know, usual speculations for a high draft pick.
LaMelo Ball started the season off a little slow, something that can be expected of a rookie, but he has slowly made himself into the front runner for Rookie of the Year. He has done almost everything for the Hornets. He led the team in scoring when they beat the Dallas Mavericks, he’s led the team in rebounds, and in steals and assists.
LaMelo Ball ranks in the top 10 in three categories for the ENTIRE LEAGUE. His three categories in which he ranks in the top 10 are, assists percentage (38.0, ranked 8th), steal percentage (2.9, ranked 6th), and triple-doubles (1, ranked 4th). Also on this note, he is now the youngest player ever in NBA history to have a triple-double.
In his first 10 games of the season, LaMelo Ball has scored 108 points, 63 rebounds, and 59 assists. These stats are way more impressive than anyone expected of LaMelo Ball, and he’s just getting started. He is unpredictable on the court and you can tell he likes to have fun playing the game. In each game he plays, he is building more chemistry with his teammates and becoming more comfortable on the court.
All he has to do now is continue building his game. He needs to stay focused and become less impressed, more involved. But nonetheless, LaMelo Ball has been better than advertised and I’m just happy that the Hornets have this guy on their side.
