Should Bismack Biyombo expect the Charlotte Hornets to retain him after the season?

Bismack Biyombo is a beloved meme within the Charlotte Hornets community, but let’s not extend his worth past that. Biyombo was getting a hefty check from the Orlando Magic before being moved to Charlotte, where the team continued to pay his contract of 17 million dollars a year.

The Hornets did restructure the contract and this season he made about what he is actually worth. Biyombo is a mediocre roleplayer at best with no real upside. Offensively he is good at going to the rim but he has trouble holding onto the ball which makes him a liability on the pick-and-roll.

Biyombo probably won’t be retained, his numbers are just fine. He is averaging eight points per game with only four rebounds in over 20 minutes. Biyombo isn’t an essential piece in the organization’s future and he isn’t really worth a spot on the roster, especially considering he is taking away minutes from younger talents such as Jalen McDaniels and Vernon Carey Jr.

I predict that Biyombo won’t get signed back by the Charlotte Hornets and may sign a minimum contract on a bottom of the league team with no playoff contention.
