The Charlotte Hornets got to watch on Monday, as the Greensboro Swarm made a great pick in the G-League Draft.

For years now, the Greensboro Swarm has done a great job helping develop young players for the Charlotte Hornets. On Monday, the Swarm used their #1 pick on second-year player Admiral Schofield.

Schofield played at the University of Tennessee before last season, and he was drafted in the second round of the 2020 NBA Draft by the Washington Wizards. Schofield was signed to a three-year deal, but he spent some time in the G-League.

Schofield managed to see a significant amount of court time with Washington, as he averaged 11 minutes per game in 33 games and got two starts. He finished his rookie season by averaging 3.0 points and 1.4 rebounds. He was the only draft selection made by the Swarm.

During his time in the G-League last season, he averaged 16.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists rebounds per game for the Go-Go. He also managed to shoot 46% from the floor.

Before starting this season, Schofield was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder and was later waived at the end of the preseason. He averaged 12 minutes per game and only managed to average one rebound.

Schofield will be looking to turn a new page in his career after being drafted by the Swarm. As the #1 pick, fans could expect to see him play significant minutes while in the G-League’s bubble.

Fans can expect to see the Swam play at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, this G-League season. Only the top-8 teams will get to participate in the single-elimination playoffs.

The Swarm was one of the worst G-League teams last season. With Greensboro’s new forward, the Charlotte Hornets will hope to see some improvements from the team.
