Charlotte Hornets trades with Cavaliers: Trade for JaVale McGee

A trade between the Charlotte Hornets and the Cleveland Cavaliers would most likely be the easiest and least costly for the Hornets if they acquired center JaVale McGee.

McGee to the Hornets would be more of a band aid than a long-term fix. He is on a one-year, $4.2 million deal this year, and got be brought back next year on another relatively cheap deal.

Here is what I propose to bring McGee to the Hornets:

This trade will essentially be a wash for both teams. Malik Monk and JaVale McGee is a simple swap, and would actually give the Hornets another $1.2 million is salary cap to use this season.

Both players are on contracts that expire at the end of the season, both Monk and McGee will be unrestricted free agents. Low risk, high reward for both teams without having to give up any assets.

Because Monk is the younger talent and has the most upside going forward, and Hornets general manager Mitch Kupchak is all about acquiring future assets, the Hornets could possibly squeeze a second round pick out of a possible deal to swamp Monk and McGee.
