The following Charlotte Hornets players have locks to not be protected in an expansion draft.

Bismack Biyombo

This is gonna be short but there’s not much to say other than protecting an aging center that is not too important to the team besides maybe mentoring is not good team-building. Bismack shouldn’t be protected by the Hornets front office.

Nate Darling

Nate Darling maybe a sniper, but it’s very unlikely a two-way contract player who has not even seen the court outside of the preseason would be protected for an expansion draft. Therefore, I don’t think that Darling would be protected.

Nick Richards

The Hornets obviously saw something in Nick Richards, parting with a future second to pick up an extra selection in the draft to take him, but that would likely not be enough to protect him as he has very rarely seen the court. Therefore, Richards is unlikely exposed.

Grant Riller

Grant Riller was widely considered a steal by many as the 56th pick in the previous draft. He was converted to a two-way contract. Despite having major upside, the combo guard isn’t really close to important enough yet to justify protecting.
