Round 1 – Pick 2: Washington Wizards

Gonzaga. 2. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. PG. Jalen Suggs. player. 142

Jalen Suggs is the best option available to help the Washington Wizards to rebuild their team. The Wizards traded John Wall for Russell Westbrook before the season, and this may not be a long-term answer.

Westbrook is set to turn 33 this November, and the Wizards need to look at a young option to lead the team at point guard. Suggs can be that leader, as he’s helping lead the best team in college basketball.

Gonzaga is currently undefeated, and Suggs is averaging 14.4 points, 4.4 assists, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.2 steals per game. Suggs shares the spotlight with Corey Kispert, but he’s done a great job at running Gonzaga’s offense.

Suggs shoots well from the floor, and he’s proved that he can stroke it from deep when the opportunity comes. He can do everything on offense, and he’d be a great understudy to Westbrook.

Suggs has the ability to excel in pick-and-roll, and he’s able to find the open man with ease. His court vision is what can also help develop his other teammates.

One of Suggs most impressive qualities is his defense. He is 6’4 and provides great size while defending. Suggs is smart at switching on plays, and he can even help effectively defend in the paint when needed.

Many Wizards’ fans want to keep Bradley Beal after this season. Drafting Suggs and pairing him with Beal could be a great match for Washington for the future.
