Charlotte Hornets: 2021 NBA Mock Draft 1.0, first-round picks for all 30 teams
Round 1 – Pick 4: Chicago Bulls
The Chicago Bulls are in need of some offensive help, and Jalen Johnson could be their guy.
Jalen Johnson has not been as dominant this season as he was in high school, but he’s still got upside. Duke may not be having a good year, but he’s been coached very well by head coach Mike Krzyzewski. So far this season, Johnson has averaged 12.3 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. Johnson has been dealing with some injuries as well, which has clearly impacted his play.
However, Johnson can be a threat if he’s paired with the right teammates. Johnson could become even more of a threat if he plays next to Zach LaVine and Coby White. The Bulls average 8th most assists per game, so Johnson would have many opportunities to score.
The Bulls are the 21st ranked team with a defensive rating of 112.3. Johnson could help change that with his impressive defense on the wing. He’s smart and is able to grab the ball when it comes his way; he’s done this and has averaged 1.2 steals and 1.4 blocks per game.
Johnson is an exciting player to watch, and many Duke fans know about it because of his impressive finishes on the offensive side of the court. When in transition, Johnson has thrown down some impressive dunks. Just like LaVine, Johnson could also help ignite the Bulls’ offense with these throwdowns.
If taken by the Bulls, they will be getting someone who can play both forward positions and provide another badly needed weapon.
