The Charlotte Hornets are giving up too many offensive rebounds and second-chance points.
The Charlotte Hornets have been better of late in defensive rebounds but they are still second-to-last in the NBA in defensive rebound percentage. The Hornets are often undersized down low and that will be the case again against the Minnesota Timberwolves with Karl-Anthony Towns, Naz Reid, Ed Reid, and Jarred Vanderbilt in the frontcourt.
What often gets the Hornets in trouble is giving up second-chance points. The Hornets gave up 13 offensive rebounds (19 overall) which resulted in 16 second-chance points in the first half. This combined with the high field goal percentage kept the Grizzlies in the game early and gave them the avenue to take a slim lead into halftime.
There is no help coming from the outside any time soon for the Hornets. The Hornets will need to defend and contest shots better and team-rebound in an effort to not give additional scoring opportunities to the Timberwolves.
