Charlotte Hornets: Should Miles Bridges be in the dunk contest again?
The Charlotte Hornets have given fans a variety of exciting dunks this season with their high-pace offense. Miles Bridges has easily been the best one on the team with his electrifying energy at the rim.
With his crazy dunks, fans have to be wondering if Bridges will get a shot in the dunk contest again. He was selected to be in the contest in 2019 as a rookie, but he was left out last year during the All-Star Weekend.
Bridges was close in 2019 to getting to the second round, but he made a mistake on his first dunk attempt. His second dunk consisted of him taking off his shirt to reveal a Larry Johnson jersey and he successfully threw down a 360 dunk.
Bridges did, however, represent the Hornets in the NBA’s Rising Stars game last season. One of his most notable plays during that game was when he thew down a self alley-oop. Bridges finished the game with 20 points and he was named the Rising Stars Most Valuable Player.
Bridges has played with high energy during the 2020-21 season. He’s averaged 9.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per game coming off the bench. He has averaged a double-double in his last four games dating back to February 7th. Throughout the season so far, Bridges has looked a lot more comfortable on the court in his new role.
Bridges has successfully thrown down 32 dunks so far this season, 26 of them have been assisted. He’s also been on the receiving end on many lobs dished out by rookie LaMelo Ball. Many have granted these two the AirBnB nickname because of these successful alley-oop dunks.
The NBA recently announced that the NBA All-Star game would be held on March 7th. Last year’s dunk contest winner was Derrick Jones Jr.
