The Charlotte Hornets select John Petty (Alabama) with their first of two second-round picks.

With their first pick in the second round, the Charlotte Hornets could look at selecting John Petty from Alabama. Selecting Petty could be a great option to add for depth at the wing position.

Petty has good size, and he’s proved that he can be elite on the defensive side of the court. The Hornets continue to struggle defensively as a team and are giving up shots from the perimeter at an alarming rate.

His defense would tremulously help the Hornets, but his ability to score from anywhere on the court makes him an even bigger weapon. So far this season, Petty has shot 55% from the field and 38% from three.

In 25 games, Petty has averaged 12.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. He’s started in all but one game this season. Petty established himself as a top player for Alabama early on in the season.

Alabama has not been a deep college basketball team as of late, but they’re having one of their best seasons as of late. Petty is a big reason why the Crimson Tide has a record of 20-6.

Petty is a great prospect that can thrive in the G-League early on and then eventually play his way into the rotation.
