Midseason Grade: A-

It’s hard to argue that Terry Rozier isn’t having a great year. Rozier has become a well-above average secondary scoring option. Beyond that, he’s been a guy who can carry the team to an occasional win. He’s earned the respect of his teammates, fans, and opposing players league-wide.

Second half predictions

Conventional wisdom says that an undersized scoring guard/wing who’s about to turn 27 years old is either beginning to hit his zenith, or already has. Shooting specialists do tend to have later peak years, but several facts remain—the Hornets have solid guard depth, needs for a long-term center and defensive wing, and a lot of decisions to make concerning contract extensions in the offseason.

The unfortunate reality is that now might be an ideal time to sell high on Rozier. With the current parity in the league, the number of teams that think they’re a piece away from separating themselves in the crowded playoff field is perhaps unprecedented.

Whether Rozier stays or goes, his scoring and efficiency are likely to level off to around 19 ppg on 58-59 eFG%.

Nevertheless, he’s just as scary as ever.
