The Charlotte Hornets begin the second half of the 2020-21 NBA Season on March 11 at home versus the Detroit Pistons. The Hornets surprised their own fans, outside spectators, and the media with their 17-18 start. Charlotte enters the second half of the season with the seventh-best record in the Eastern Conference. If the regular season ended today, the Hornets would participate in the NBA Play-In Tournament that will determine the seventh and eighth seeds in the playoffs for each conference.

The Hornets will play 37 games during the second half of the season, which includes two games that were postponed during the first half of the season due to league health and safety protocols and schedule adjustments (May 15 at New York, May 16 at Washington).

The Hornets have two though road trips during the second half of the season. The first in mid-March, six games out west that features five teams who will certainly be in the playoffs. The second at the beginning of April versus a mix of Eastern and Western Conference opponents, including four playoff teams.

The road back to the playoffs for the first time since the 2015-16 season won’t be easy for the Hornets.

I’m not going to cheat these predictions. I’m going to look at the opponent and where the game takes place, and the first thing that comes to mind, win or loss, I’m going to put down. Let’s get started with March.

March – 11 games

The Hornets will face a rough stretch on the road in the middle of March with games against the Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets.

3/11 vs. Pistons – Win

3/13 vs. Raptors – Win

3/15 vs. Kings – Win

3/17 at Nuggets – Loss

3/18 at Lakers – Loss

3/20 at Clippers – Loss

3/22 at Spurs – Win

3/24 at Rockets – Win

3/26 vs. Heat – Loss

3/28 vs. Suns – Loss

3/30 at Wizards – Loss

The Hornets go 5-6 in March and finish the month with 22 wins and 24 losses.
