2021 NBA Mock Draft: Predicting the Charlotte Hornets’ 3 selections
Round 1 – #16: Jaden Springer, G, Tennessee
Devonte Graham and Malik Monk are both impending free agents for the Charlotte Hornets. There is a good chance that both may not return. Even if the Hornets are able to retain both players, who are key players off the bench along with Miles Bridges, the Hornets need to add more scoring to their second unit.
Jaden Springer is a native of Charlotte, NC. He played high school basketball at Rocky River High School in Charlotte before transferring to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida for his junior and senior seasons.
In his lone season at Tennessee, Springer appeared in 25 games (starting 15), averaging 12.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.9 assists while shooting 46.7% from the field and 43.5% from three.
Springer is a talented young player that can help the Hornets in a lot of their areas of need. He’s a good perimeter defender despite not having great length. He’s good at putting pressure on the ball and taking the ball away. Springer also rebounds really well for his height and position; the Hornets certainly have experience with guards who rebound well.
Springer is a scorer. He can play both guard positions. He is good at attacking the paint and creating scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates. Springer is an effective three-point shooter and has a good pullup jumper in the mid-ranger. He’s the type of guard that plays multiple positions and contributes on both sides of the court that the Hornets need.
