Round 2 – #56: Kessler Edwards, F, Pepperdine

With the first of two late second-round selections, the Charlotte Hornets select 6-8 wing from Pepperdine, Kessler Edwards. The selection of Edwards would give the Hornets another young wing that could potentially add scoring to their second unit.

After a disappointing freshman season, Flanigan appeared and started in 27 games for Pepperdine this past season. He averaged 17.2 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists while shooting 46.9% from the field and 39.5% from three.

Edwards has good size for a floor-spacing 3&D wing. His shooting from the midrange and three along with his size will keep him in a competition for a roster spot in the NBA. He can guard the wing and point guard positions and even against some bigger bigs. Adding size and strength to his frame will be the key to his long-term NBA value.
