Davion Mitchell, Age: 22, Baylor, Point Guard

There’s been a lot of buzz surrounding Davion Mitchell. The Baylor junior has skyrocketed up draft boards after his championship season with the Bears in which he put in an absolutely stellar season.

Mitchell’s stats from the 2020-21 season really jump off the page. He averaged 14.0 points, 5.5 assists, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game. Significant jumps in points and assists from his previous year. He also shot a three-point percentage of 44.7% on 4.7 attempts per game, that’s quite the jump from his previous two years of 28% and 32%.

Defensively though Mitchell is very stout, which would prove to be beneficial for a team like the Hornets who need to improve their perimeter defense. However, some younger guys are also very stout on the defensive end of the ball who would bring the same skill sets plus upside. He’ll be a productive player but his value just isn’t that high to be selected at 11.
