Doug McDermott – Indiana Pacers – Forward – 29

If you can’t beat him, bring him in. Doug McDermott is coming off one of if not the best season of his career. He’s also one of those guys that just consistently kills the Hornets, he’s posted 28 and 21 points in two of their matchups this season.

McDermott averaged 13.6 points while shooting 53.2% from the field and 38.8% from three. If the Hornets are looking to add elite three-point shooting, then McDermott could be their guy. They got a courtside view of what he can do when at his best as he absolutely torched Charlotte in the NBA Play-In Tournament scoring 21 points and shooting 4-6 from three. It was like death by a million cuts as he and the rest of the Pacers just outwitted our defense with open threes and open cuts to the basket.

He doesn’t wow you on the defensive end of the court nor is he a guy that you would think our young core could look up to like Green, but he’s great at what he does and Charlotte could use a player like him coming off the bench. McDermott could come into Charlotte and fill a very big hole on the Hornets roster.

The only question surrounding him is how much would he cost and if he would even consider signing in Charlotte. He could be a little too rich for our taste as he’s 29 and coming off the best season of his career. He’ll likely be highly sought after by contenders who are looking to surround their stars with shooters. If this isn’t the case then Charlotte should make a push to bring McDermott in.
