Kemba Walker returns to Charlotte as a member of the New York Knicks.
Just two years removed from losing all-time leading scorer Walker, things have actually worked out better for the Hornets than they have for Walker.
Since Walker joined the Boston Celtics, Charlotte has extended Rozier, the guy they received for Walker, to an extension, has found a new franchise point guard in LaMelo Ball, and look like they’re back on their way to the playoffs.
For Walker, he made the Eastern Conference Finals in his first year with the Celtics but began to deal with knee injuries that ultimately led to Boston trading him to Oklahoma City this summer. The Thunder bought him out and he signed with his hometown team, the New York Knicks.
On Nov. 12, Walker will make another return to Spectrum Center, but this time wearing the orange and blue for the Knicks. It’s always a must-see game when one of the most beloved players of all time comes to town and Walker will always be that in Charlotte.
However, it remains to be seen what type of player Walker is after all the injury struggles over the last two years.
Every time the Hornets and Knicks play there is entertainment but with both teams no longer laughing stocks of the league, the pressure in each of their matchups will be that much higher.
New York is coming off its first playoff appearance in years behind an all-star season by Julius Randle, and with Walker now in the mix alongside former Duke product RJ Barrett, the Knicks might be a true playoff threat.
