Hayward ranked #45 by SI

After coming off a very productive season when healthy, Hayward cracks the top 50 ahead of teammates Ball and Rozier. Hayward tied his career-best of 41.5% from three when attempting more than one three-pointer per game, while also averaging 19.6 points per game, 5.9 rebounds per game, and 4.1 assists per game, according to Basketball-Reference.

Hayward continued to show his versatility while taking on secondary playmaking roles next to LaMelo. Hayward has shown he is capable of not only creating shots for himself but also for others. He has some point forward in him and has the ball-handling and passing ability to initiate the offense at times, which served the Hornets well last season.

The ranking for Hayward seems appropriate in this article, as he is just behind Pascal Siakam (No.44),  Mike Conley (No. 43), and DeMar DeRozan (No. 42). All of these players seem fairly equal and an argument can be made for any of the following to be ranked ahead of the other. Personally, when healthy, I would take Hayward over Conley, but in regards to the rest of the players, it becomes a lot more difficult. Siakam offers more versatility defensively, but Hayward is a better shooter and more polished offensively, so that comes down to preference. Overall, the ranking seems appropriate.
