Season Prediction for Scottie Lewis:

Scottie Lewis spends his entire season at Greensboro, where he posts a stat line of 12.3 points / 4.2 rebounds / 1.0 assists / 1.9 steals / 0.9 blocks per game on 43 / 37.5 / 77 splits. His three-point shot improves, and he remains a stalwart on defense. He enters next season with higher expectations and a legit shot to make the Hornets full-time.

Was He Worth The Draft Pick?

At pick 56, Scottie Lewis was absolutely worth a flier. The second round of the NBA Draft is a crapshoot regardless of what anyone tells you. So the Hornets drafting a guy who was thought of as a one-and-done, surefire first round draft pick when he came out of high school just two years ago, so late in the draft- is about as low-risk as low-risks come. The potential reward will likely not come to fruition this season–but Lewis had an impressive track record of defensive success at Florida, and a jump shot that just some light sculpting before it becomes very promising.

After delving into Lewis’ film and defensive profile, the Hornets reasons for drafting him become a little clearer. But again, patience is a virtue, and Hornets fans will need to be highly virtuous when watching Scottie Lewis. His development will not happen overnight, but he possesses enough natural talent and instincts to be a good G-League player this season, and if he puts up decent numbers, he’s an intriguing enough player to keep an eye on beyond this year.
