The Charlotte Hornets are in an interesting spot currently. Their roster, while full of rotational-level talent, still has clear holes in it. Whether the team is able to do anything about that after an offseason which saw them use up a plethora of their assets is up to general manager Mitch Kupchak – who has yet to make an in-season trade during his tenure in Charlotte (well, Brad Wanamaker, I guess?).

Before we can determine what trade targets the Hornets can realistically acquire, we first must analyize what chips the team actually has to offer.

First, Terry Rozier cannot be included in trades this season, since he signed an extension this offseason, prior to becoming a free agent. After that, Gordon Hayward probably won’t be dealt due to his contract and status as the best wing initiator on the team. Finally, trading future draft picks could be complicated for the Hornets, although they do have the Pelicans’ pick that they can include in a deal.

In terms of players the Hornets may be looking to acquire, additional wing depth may be in the fold, so long as it is a player that can shoot sufficiently. The more obvious answer, though, is a big man. The Hornets have lacked a high-level center since the days of Al Jefferson.
