Charlotte Hornets Bold Predictions: James Borrego wins Coach of the Year award

This season will be a pivotal one for head coach James Borrego as he enters the final year of his deal with the Hornets and it sure seems like a playoff or bust mentality.

Many experts are still pessimistic about Charlotte’s chances this season and if Borrego manages to lead the Hornets to 50 or more wins, he should be named the league’s Coach of the Year.

Last year, there were some rumbles about Borrego being a candidate for the award when Charlotte was floating around the fourth seed, but that quickly changed once the team fell apart.

There should be no question about how good of a job that Borrego has done with the development of the young Hornets team in his first three years as HC but there comes a time when you have to take the next step and this year is that time.

No coach in Charlotte history has won this award and Borrego has the opportunity to become the first.
