Miles Bridges will be the starter at the power forward position for the Charlotte Hornets heading into the season.

Entering into the offseason one of the main questions about this season rotation was around whom between Bridges and Washington would get the start at the power forward spot. During the four preseason games, Borrego gave Bridges back his starter spot he lost during last year. His improvement was tangible in the latest months of the 2021 season and the team hopes he can keep it up with the same pace.

The main reason behind this decision could be the willingness to keep Bridges and LaMelo Ball together for the majority of the game. The two connected very well from the beginning of last season, giving a good bunch of energy to the bench unit. The same chemistry stayed for the entire season and they are starting to act like a clear duo even in terms of production. If this continues through this season and beyond they are going to be the bearing axis of the organization in the near future.

His incredible development trajectory made him become a better overall player. He probably will not have the same scoring efficiency he posted during last season as a starter, but his offensive versatility will be much needed in the starting five. It is very important to add a player that can score with ease next to Ball and he will be much more useful than Washington was last year.

Using this important stage will also be good for the Hornets as they are approaching a probable contract extension with their young talent. The deadline for this year is Oct. 18, and this is unlikely to happen for that date but it is in the interest of both sides to stay together in the near future. Bridges holds his future in his hands and he will have to exploit this chance to get a better contract for the years ahead.
