3 Takeaways from Charlotte Hornets win vs. Cleveland: The Hornets are slow starters and a second-half team?

For the second straight game now the Hornets have started very slow and had to claw their way back into the game. Against Indiana, they needed a 25-0 run to get back into the game to win it. It never got that bad against Cleveland but there was still this same anxious feeling surrounding the squad when Cleveland started hitting shots.

This could just be the case of cold legs. At halftime, Rozier (can get an excuse due to injury and it is his first game) and Hayward (no excuses) had combined for just 6 points. That’s your two leading scorers from last season and big money players getting little to no production. It’s no surprise they were trailing.

Hayward came alive towards the end of the game to help seal the win but if he had been consistent from the start, Charlotte likely runs away with this game. His and Rozier’s scoring is critical to Charlotte’s success.

With Charlotte taking on the Brooklyn Nets in their next game, they should be keying on getting off to a fast start in that one.
