3 Takeaways from Charlotte Hornets win vs. Cleveland: Charlotte might have a good bench

For the second straight game, Charlotte has relied on their bench players to keep them in a game and help secure a win. What was looked at as questionable at best, Charlotte’s bench might be a little bit better than expected.

The steady hand of Ish Smith as the backup point guard is looking like everything the Hornets front office wanted. Playmaking, leadership, quickness, ability to finish at the rim, Smith is looking like the ideal deputy point guard to LaMelo Ball. He’s a player James Borrego can trust to make the right decision with the ball in his hands.

Oubre and Martin, who were mentioned earlier in the article, provided both an offensive and defensive spark to keep Charlotte engaged to secure a win. Guys like Jalen McDaniels and James Bouknight have hardly seen the court this season because these two have been very solid. Don’t worry, there are 82 games, they’ll get their chance.

Not to mention PJ Washington is coming off the bench. He didn’t necessarily have a great game but we all know he is a valued member of Charlotte’s core.
