NBA Power Rankings: The NBA has had their first week in the books! It’s been great! Well, at least for some teams. Others have struggled mightily – despite their.. uh.. top tier status.

NBA Power Rankings: LA Lakers fall, Chicago Bulls reach top-10

But, it’s time to decipher the pretenders from the contenders – and everything in between. Before we get started, let’s hit some NBA storylines.

The Chicago Bulls are a good basketball team, and their offseason additions of Lonzo Ball, Alex Caruso, and DeMar DeRozan have proven to be more than adequate. Lonzo Ball, in his first week in a Bulls jersey, has already reached the triple double mark.

The Golden State Warriors have looked good – and looked good against top-end teams. They have beaten the Warriors, Clippers, and Kings. Steph Curry is averaging 33 points per game on 46-percent shooting, with a season-high of 45 points (coming against the Clippers).

The Washington Wizards are a better team than they were last season. The additions of Spencer Dinwiddie, Kyle Kuzma, Montrezz Harrell, and Corey Kispert have drastically improved their rotation – and that added depth has resulted in wins (over the Raptors and Pacers).

There have been a few teams that have disappointed this season so far, but none more than the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Lakers – each opened the season as their conference favorites. Both are still going to have great seasons, but their slow starts are absolutely worth mentioning.
