3 Trade targets that could make Charlotte contenders: Christian Wood, Big, Houston Rockets

A homecoming of sorts for Christian Wood would be a pleasant site for Charlotte fans. A player who has been a part of six organizations during his career has finally figured out his role in the league.

Wood is currently averaging 22.3 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game. He would be almost the perfect big man to tag alongside LaMelo Ball as his ability to pick and roll to the basket is among the best of the league. His length and athletic ability allow him to finish strong at the hoop and he’s a nightmare mismatch when switched onto smaller or slower defenders.

Wood hasn’t quite reached that star title just yet but the league is fully aware of the skillsets he brings to the table. At only 26 years old, Wood fits the timeline of the team as well. He could slot in and be a cornerstone of the franchise for years to come.

The Rockets would have to be in firesale mode to move Wood. They’re a very young team with a lot of good young talent on the roster. They may want to keep Wood attached to that core as they continue to grow. Charlotte would need to come with a strong package if they want to convince the Rockets to move off of Wood.
