The Charlotte Hornets take on the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight in the Spectrum Center at 7:00 p.m. Eastern. The team is coming off of a win last night against the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Cleveland Cavaliers, led by rookie and 2021 3rd overall pick Evan Mobley, are 3-4 this season. Earlier this season, the Hornets beat the Cavaliers (albeit without Darius Garland).

Last night, though, the Hornets were fully healthy for the first time this season – and they looked really good.

Charlotte Hornets odds vs Cleveland Cavaliers

The Charlotte Hornets are 5-point favorites against the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight, according to WynnBET. The Hornets have been an excellent 3rd-quarter team this year – so the 1.5-point spread in the third quarter may also be worth a look.

Storylines for Charlotte Hornets vs Cleveland Cavaliers

The Charlotte Hornets are 5-2 currently, and sit behind the New York Knicks, Miami Heat, Washington Wizards, and Chicago Bulls – all of whom are 5-1. Those teams likely won’t stay at the top of the Eastern Conference, but if the Hornets can win tonight and on Wednesday they’d sit at 8-2 – that would give them a really solid start despite playing some above-average competition.

The Cavaliers are likely going to start three seven-footers – as they have done all season: Evan Mobley at SF, Lauri Markkanen at PF, and Jarrett Allen at C. Despite that, Charlotte was able to out-rebound the Cavs in their first matchup.

Ish Smith and Cody Martin seem to be regressing slightly. In a game against a strong Cavaliers backcourt – it will be interesting to see whether James Borrego decides to add another guard to the rotation – James Bouknight possibly?
