Charlotte Hornets: 2 trades to acquire Myles Turner

Okay – here’s a more interesting trade. This may end up being more likely than a Hayward/Turner swap, but it is probably less appealing to Hornets fans as a whole.

Here, the Charlotte Hornets would be sending away two players which they acquired in the 2021 offseason. Kelly Oubre is a fine rotational player – but probably nothing more. He has had a solid few games, but has been a negative in every other one. The best asset the Pacers would be receiving, instead, is 2021 lottery selection James Bouknight.

Bouknight has yet to get real, consistent playing time in the NBA – and that isn’t to say he’s not a good player – but there just may not be a spot for him in the 2021-22 rotation.

The Hornets would, of course, gain the big-time center that is Myles Turner – but the loss of Bouknight could be worrisome if he turns into something special in Indiana. Additionally, Ish Smith would be included, but mainly just for salary-matching purposes.

The Pacers do have two 2021 first-round picks on their roster in Isaiah Jackson and Chris Duarte – but this would be a long-term move that would allow their team to play Jackson a bit more – if they were looking to re-tool their roster a little bit.

Myles Turner makes a lot of sense for the Charlotte Hornets, and if he is available via trade, it may be worth exploring.
