Baron Davis – (1999-02)

After the Muggys Bougues era, the Hornets selected Baron Davis third overall in 1999, and a new era for Charlotte basketball began.

Unfortunately, the Hornets moved to New Orleans just three seasons later, and Davis really shined when the team departed, but he still made a name for himself in Charlotte.

Davis became known for his dunks and athleticism and averaged 12.6 points on 42.1 percent shooting, 3.7 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 1.8 steals during his time with the Hornets.

In 2001-02, which was his final season in Charlotte, Davis was named an all-star, averaging 18.1 points, 8.5 assists and 4.3 rebounds while starting in all 82 games.

Davis then averaged 20.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 3.0 steals in the Hornets 2001 first-round playoff series against the Miami Heat, which is still the only playoff sweep the team has ever had.

If Charlotte had never moved to New Orleans, Davis would undoubtedly be higher on this list and might’ve been a top-five player in franchise history.
