Ranking LaMelo Ball

Once again, LaMelo Ball isn’t even halfway through his sophomore season in the NBA but has already become one of the most popular players in franchise history.

Ball has the swagger, popularity and skills that have made him a recognizable face throughout the league and with fans.

Of the four Charlotte point guards I ranked, Ball ranks No. 3 currently and should be at No. 2 by the end of next season if he doesn’t fall apart.

Ball is easily better than Felton, pushing him to five, and despite Baron Davis having some electrifying seasons while in Charlotte, Ball has proven to be the more all-around player during his short career.

Ball will likely be named an all-star this year if he keeps up this level play, which would give him the same amount that Davis had in one less season.

In all, Davis had one really good year out of three in Charlotte.

The reason Ball isn’t above Muggsy Bogues yet is because of the longevity and assists totals. Ball has averaged a little under seven assists in 70 games but should see that number rise when the talent around him continues to grow.

If Ball does make an all-star team this year and next, he should pass Bogues.

When it comes to Kemba Walker, Ball still has a long way to go. However, his career has gotten off to a much better start and it should be no surprise if he surpasses Walker as the team’s best player ever in a few years.
