The Charlotte Hornets beat the Minnesota Timberwolves in convincing fashion on Friday night, winning by a score of 133-115. In the game, the Hornets tied their franchise record for made 3-pointers in a game, at 23 – and Kai Jones made his first NBA bucket.

The Charlotte Hornets had one of their best games of the season, giving them a winning streak of three games. Tomorrow night, they play the Houston Rockets on the road – another winnable game.

With that said, let’s get into some takeaways.

Charlotte Hornets takeaways: Kelly Oubre has the ability to win the Hornets games.

Kelly Oubre has had an interesting year for the Charlotte Hornets. Tonight, he had his second-best game of the season, finishing with 27 points on 17 shots – as well as being a +21 on the game. His impact was notable from start to finish, and he did not seem to miss anything until the game was already out of hand.

Charlotte Hornets takeaways: A top-4 seed in the East may be more realistic than expected.

Look, I’m not going to sit here and tell you that it is likely – but the Hornets are playing at a high level and have won eight of their last ten games. The team currently sits at fourth in the Eastern Conference as a remarkably young team that has had some injury misfortune to start the year (PJ Washington, Terry Rozier). If all the major pieces can stay healthy (Ball, Bridges, Hayward), the Hornets could be dangerous.

Charlotte Hornets takeaways: We knew this, but LaMelo Ball is that guy.

LaMelo Ball continues to prove that he can affect winning in ways other than scoring. Tonight, he had 13 total assists, and only ended up taking one shot in the entire second half. Here is one of the better dimes he had.

Now, I know that there’s something of a fake rivalry between LaMelo Ball and Anthony Edwards – but both are phenomenal players and deserve recognition for what they’re doing at such a young age.

The Hornets’ next game is tomorrow night against the Houston Rockets. Tip off is at 8:00 PM. We have you covered for the game, check back for our coverage.
