The Charlotte Hornets are one of the many NBA teams looking to take a leap into contention – and they may have an opportunity to do so with the Indiana Pacers looking to start a rebuild, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Three players were mentioned in the report, and in theory, all of them would make sense in Charlotte to some degree: Caris LeVert, Myles Turner, and Domantas Sabonis. Obviously, the price point is different for each of those three guys, but we’ll mainly be focusing on Turner and Sabonis for this piece.

The Charlotte Hornets have been on the search for a long-term big man for the past several seasons, and the lack of a true inside presence – particularly defensively – has really hurt the Hornets in certain games this season. In the past week, the Hornets have allowed 40-point games from both Joel Embiid and Giannis Antetokounmpo – granted Charlotte’s starting center has been out – but Mason Plumlee has not exactly been a lockdown defender.

Myles Turner represents everything teams want in a modern NBA center – a player that can defend in space and at the rim while also being able to hit long-range shots at the other end of the floor.

Over a year ago, I wrote a piece on him and his fit on the Minnesota Timberwolves – but a lot of stands for the Charlotte Hornets as well – you can find that article here.

Anyways, Sabonis is likely a bit more expensive to acquire. He’s more offensive-minded, and very unique in his game. Still, he would be a lot of fun in Charlotte.

Let’s go ahead and get into the trades.
