3 Eastern Conference All-Stars that LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges were snubbed for
By Jason Huber
Fred VanVleet, G Toronto Raptors – 1st Selection
As an undrafted player a few years ago, Fred VanVleet has had quite an impressive rise in the NBA that includes an NBA championship with the Toronto Raptors.
So, while he is the first undrafted player to be named an all-star in the modern NBA era, LaMelo Ball is still having a better season.
VanVleet has been great, averaging 21.5 points and 7.0 assists per game but Ball has been the more efficient all-around player in assists, rebounds, and field goal percentage.
The one thing that VanVleet has over Ball is his 3-point shooting and on-ball defending but that shouldn’t be enough to give him the nod over Ball, who has been more instrumental for Charlotte’s success.
VanVleet arguably could have been snubbed by his teammate, Pascal Siakam, who wasn’t named to the team. Even then, Bridges has a stronger case than Siakam, with more win-shares and the same amount of production in less timed played.
You also have to remember that Ball is averaging 32 minutes per game, while VanVleet averages 38, the highest in the entire NBA.
Also, the Hornets have a better record. Just saying.
