Hornets trade rumors: 5 Centers Charlotte can trade for who could move the needle – Mitchell Robinson

New York Knicks big man Mitchell Robinson is another big who’s on the last year of his contract who could be had if the price is right. Meaning the risk for Charlotte to move for him would mean risking sending away value players under contract for someone who could turn around and leave in the offseason.

However, at the end of the day, Robinson might be the perfect type of player that the Hornets could use. His stats don’t jump off the page but he’s currently averaging 8.3 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game. Mitchell is explosive and brings a solid defensive presence to the court and in theory, is exactly the type of player the Hornets should be looking for.

Of course, there’s always a reason why a team may want to trade a player. About a month ago our friends at the Daily Knicks talked about how Robinson had been off a disappointing start to the season and it may be in the team’s best interest to move on from him before he leaves for nothing in the offseason.

Now the Knicks in general have been a bit of a mess this season and it could come down to just not being a good fit with the current makeup of the team.

If the Hornets front office is comfortable with possibly bringing in a rental at the center position, Robinson makes a lot of sense.
