Hornets trade rumors: 5 Centers Charlotte can trade for who could move the needle – Christian Wood

Christian Wood is an interesting one because he’s probably the best player on this list, but he also probably doesn’t solve any of the defensive issues that the Hornets currently have.

Many would consider Wood to be a guy that could really push the Hornets franchise in the right direction. He’s only 26 and is averaging 17.7 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. If the Hornets were to acquire him, that would give Charlotte a true big three with him, Miles Bridges, and LaMelo Ball.

Wood is currently on the Houston Rockets who aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. The Rockets are currently 14-36 and have the worst record in the Western Conference. Wood is too good of a player to have his prime years wasted in a massive rebuild.

Wood is a guy who’s played on six different teams (including the Hornets) in five years so I’m sure he would love to finally feel settled. Unfortunately for him, things haven’t gone according to plan in Houston. He signed there to play with James Harden and Russell Westbrook, which quickly turned into Harden and John Wall, which turned into just Wall, and now it’s Wood and young guys.

If the Hornets think they can make some noise in the playoffs this year, which at this point in the season, they should consider that a real possibility. They should at least be gauging Houston’s interest for a deal.

Charlotte would likely have to send their promising youth but that’s the price to pay for a legit big three.
