Hornets trade rumors: 5 Centers Charlotte can trade for who could move the needle – Myles Turner

You had to know he would appear in this article. Myles Turner and the Hornets have had a special relationship for as long as any of us can remember. It seems like Turner has been linked to the Hornets since the moment he entered the NBA.

While the links existed, the time was never quite right for the Hornets to make that move. That time may be now. Indiana has entered rebuild mode and is fielding calls for Turner, Domantas Sabonis, and Caris LeVert.

The Indiana core just hasn’t been able to get it done and is now 19-33 and 13th in the East. Turner was vocal about not loving his role with Indiana but wanted to tough it out and be a team player. He’s now been sidelined for a couple of weeks with a foot injury.

Out of the four players listed already, Turner would likely have the most immediate impact on the current makeup of the Hornets. Interior defense is a gaping hole and bringing in arguably the best rim-protector in the league would surely solve those problems. Turner is averaging 2.8 blocks per game this season, which is the best in the NBA.

Turner also isn’t a slouch on the offensive end. He may not be as explosive as Holmes, or as crafty as Wood, but Turner can play above the rim and is a solid shooter, hitting 33.3 percent of his three-point attempts.

Turner is the most expensive player on this list so working out a deal would be tough considering who the Hornets have money in and what the Pacers would be looking for.

While it would be tough it’s certainly one that just about everyone in Charlotte would welcome.

It’s important to note that the price for these players might be too hefty to move on. Charlotte is already winning games without having a dominant big man, so the argument to stay the course, see what happens, and address the need in the offseason is more than a reasonable one.
