Josh McRoberts – Acquired at 2013 trade deadline from Orlando Magic for Hakim Warrick
You really have to be a die-hard Charlotte fan to remember the brief Josh McRoberts era.
All-in-all, McRoberts’ career wasn’t anything too special. He only had a career average of 5.4 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 12 seasons.
But when McRoberts was traded to the then-Bobcats in February 2013 at the trade deadline, he would begin the best stretch of his career.
In the final 26 games of the 2012-13 season, McRoberts averaged a career-high 9.3 points and 7.2 rebounds.
That summer, McRoberts re-signed with the Bobcats on a two-year deal with an opt-out option and became the starting power forward.
Led by center Al Jefferson and point guard Kemba Walker, McRoberts was a key glue guy for Charlotte’s success in 2013-14 as they made the playoffs for the second time since the Bobcats were founded.
In 78 games that year, McRoberts averaged 8.5 points and 4.8 rebounds in over 30 minutes per game.
His success led to him opting out of his second year and signing a four-year, $23 million deal with the Miami Heat.
Unfortunately, he never reached the success he had with Charlotte again.
