Elden Campbell – Acquired in March 1999 from the Los Angeles Lakers in five-player trade

This acquisition is a little bit different since the trade was actually made a month into the season.

It was a shortened lockout year that began at the beginning of February and each team only played 50 regular-season games.

The trade was still made in March 1999, and is one of the better ones in Charlotte history, allowing it to be on this list.

Center Elden Campbell was a part of the deal that sent Hornets legend Glen Rice along with J.R. Reid and B.J. Armstrong to the Los Angeles Lakers. Campbell and Eddie Jones were the return for Charlotte and both would become huge contributors over the next few years.

Campbell started 265 of 269 games played with the Hornets from 1999-2002 and averaged more than 12 points per game in each of those seasons, including a career-high 15.3 points and 9.4 rebounds the season he arrived.

During those seasons, Charlotte made the playoffs every year and advanced to the Eastern Semi-finals in two of those appearances. He averaged double-digit points in each series.

Campbell ranks fifth in Hornets history in blocks and 10th in free throws made. When Charlotte moved to New Orleans, Campbell was still on the roster.
