Eddie Jones – Acquired in March 1999 from the Los Angeles Lakers in five-player trade

Arguably one of the most underrated players in NBA history, shooting guard Eddie Jones was traded to Charlotte in the same trade that brought Elden Campbell.

Jones was coming off his first All-Star appearance with the Lakers and made the NBA All-Defensive Second Team in 1998, making him worthy enough for the Hornets to trade Glen Rice.

With this trade also coming in the same lockout-shortened season, Jones played in 30 games and averaged 17.0 points on 44 percent shooting from the field.

In 1999, Jones had a career-best season with Charlotte, averaging 20.1 points, 4.2 assists, 4.8 rebounds and led the league with 192 steals. Jones was named an All-Star starter for the Eastern Conference and was named to the All-NBA Third Team and All-Defensive Second Team.

That year was one of the best seasons a Hornets player has ever had, but despite averaging 17 points and 2.5 steals, Charlotte was swept in the first round of the playoffs.

Jones re-signed with the Hornets but wanted to play for the Miami Heat and was traded for Jamal Mashburn and PJ Brown.
