The 5 Best Late-Season Additions In Charlotte Hornets History

Courtney Lee – Acquired in February 2016 from Memphis Grizzlies in three-team trade
He only played in 28 games with the Hornets, but guard Courtney Lee is the best late-season addition in franchise history.
Charlotte acquired Lee by trading P.J. Hairston and draft picks to Memphis and Brian Roberts to Miami just two days before the deadline.
Lee immediately became the team’s starting shooting guard and the Hornets went 19-8 after his arrival, finishing the season with 48 wins, good enough for the sixth-seed in the East.
Lee averaged 8.9 points in the regular season but his defense and veteran presence really helped propel Charlotte, especially in the playoffs.
The Hornets faced the Miami Heat in the first round of the playoffs and after trailing 2-0, Lee hit a game-winning shot with 25 seconds remaining to give Charlotte its first playoff victory since the team returned to North Carolina.
The Hornets won the next two games to take a 3-2 series lead but Miami would win the final two for the series victory. Charlotte hasn’t been back to the playoffs since, and Lee’s shot remains as an all-time iconic moment.
