LeMelo Ball Cards Command Top Dollar On The Secondary Market
By Eric Norton
For those of you who may not be aware, the collectible card industry has been on fire for the last few years. It started with the 2018-19 NBA Draft Class and has since carried its way through the class of 2020-21. With that being said, the weight of the 2020-21 class has been shoulder mostly by the Charlotte Hornets LaMelo Ball. Case in point, over this weekend, 28 LaMelo Ball cards sold for a combined total of over $466K.
The most expensive of those cards that sold was this 2020-21 Panini Contenders Optic Gold Vinyl Variation LaMelo Ball Rookie Autograph. It had a final realized price of $146,400. Now, with that in mind, not every card going to catch that kind of money. However, there are options available to the everyday collector, or those with a casual interest, that will not need a second mortgage. Here are three LaMelo Ball cards to add to your collection.
2021-22 Donruss Net Marvels
The Net Marvels insert set made its debut in the 2018-19 Donruss basketball set. It has since gone on to become a mainstay for the brand. The base version of LaMelo’s 2021-22 Net Marvels is fairly inexpensive and can be had for around $25. However, if you are looking to spend up, you can check for the Gold or Purple Press Proof versions.
2020-21 Panini Prizm Orange Ice
Speaking of spending up, Panini Prizm is where you can do that. If you are not familiar with the brand, let us just say it is a very colorful option. In fact, there are around 50 different color variations for the base set. Orange Ice is one of those colors that is on the lower end of the spectrum but will still run you about $200 after shipping.
2020-21 Court Kings Le Cinque Piu Belle
The final card here is the incredibly tough Le Cinque Piu Belle from Court Kings. The checklist reads like a Who’s Who of modern-day basketball lore. LaMelo Ball is card number seven in the set and sells in the $300 to $500 range. It is a great “higher end” option from a mid-range product.
