Charlotte Hornets to sign 5-time Houston Rockets All-Star in free agency?
As a ball-dominant, slashing point guard, Wall would not be a terrible fit next to LaMelo Ball. While LaMelo prefers to space the floor and shoot outside shots, Wall could slither his way into the paint, finish at the rim, or kick out to open shooters on the perimeter.
In theory, this would be a successful pairing. In practice, it may not be so fantastic. Despite being a potentially fun backcourt duo to say on a nightly basis, Ball and Wall probably would not gel particularly well. In 2021-22, Wall chose to sit out rather than take a back seat to Kevin Porter. If he was told to take a lesser role in favor of Porter, could you imagine the lesser role he would play next to LaMelo?
Therefore, he would not even come to Charlotte in the first place. It may be nice to think about Miles Bridges receiving alley-oops from another pass-first type of point guard, but John Wall should not be in the Hornets’ 2022-23 plans.
