Charlotte Hornets to hire Warriors assistant Kenny Atkinson as new head coach

BREAKING NEWS, HORNETS FANS!

As reported by ESPN this evening: Warriors assistant coach Kenny Atkinson will be the next head coach of the Charlotte Hornets. Atkinson is currently an assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors, who are still battling in the NBA Finals. Upon the conclusion of that series, Atkinson will handle the reigns for the Hornets for the foreseeable future.

As we head into the NBA Draft and Free Agency, Atkinson will have a plethora of decisions to make with the Hornets’ front office. As a more defensive-minded coach, he will look to improve Charlotte’s 23rd ranked defense (defensive rating) from a season ago.
