#1 Jalen Duren

Duren would be the ideal prospect for the Hornets to select at 13th overall. As a shot-blocking, rim-running big, Duren dominated in his lone year at Memphis. Averaging 12 points per game, 8.1 rebounds per game, and 2.1 blocks per game, Duren could fit perfectly in the Hornets starting lineup. The only problem? He is consistently mocked to teams higher in the draft order.

#2 Mark Williams

Williams would be an acceptable replacement at the 13th pick if Duren is off the board. As the ACC Defensive Player of the Year, Williams can provide more defensive coverage but less offensive upside than Duren. As a primary lob-threat, Williams shot 72.1 percent from the field as a sophomore this season. Combined with his 11.2 points per game, 7.4 rebounds per game, 2.8 blocks per game, and projected draft position, Williams is likely to be a Hornet next season.

#3 Walker Kessler

Kessler would be more of a dark horse pick for the Hornets. As the best shot-blocker in the draft, Kessler might not be a top-15 prospect, but he would be a perfect fit in Charlotte. If Duren and Williams are off the board by pick 13, the Hornets could trade out of the 15 spot and slide down to the early-20s. This would put them in perfect range to take a flier on Kessler. The SEC Defensive Player of the Year averaged an unfathomable 4.6 blocks per game to go along with his 11.4 points per game and 8.1 rebounds per game.

Any of these three bigs should be able to provide immediate value for the Hornets. While Duren may be the best prospect, Williams is the likely choice here. If they are both off the board, look for Charlotte to make a deal and slide down to take Kessler later in the Draft.
