After having a stellar G-League season in 2020, Richards was on the official roster for the entirety of last season. He appeared in 50 games, but he did have some DNP – Coach’s Decisions as well. Richards’ future in Charlotte is uncertain with the upcoming season being the last season on his contract.

From a skillset standpoint, Richards is an athletic big who can run the floor and shows flashes of rim protection. He can catch lobs and score off duck-ins, but outside of that, he is limited as an offensive threat. Defensively, he is decent when switching onto guards, but he is best in help-side scenarios off the ball where he can challenge and protect the rim.

With the legal issues surrounding Montrezl Harrell and uncertainty of his future in Charlotte, Richards has an opportunity to solidify himself in the center rotation. However, he will have to compete with Mark Williams and Mason Plumlee to do so.
