Jalen Crutcher is another guard who is familiar with the Hornets organization. Playing with the Greensboro Swarm last season, Crutcher shot the ball well and now has a big opportunity in Summer League. With the Hornets still having a need for a backup point guard, Crutcher has an opportunity to capitalize. He may have what it takes to be a third point guard on an NBA roster due to his offensive skillset.

His appealing due to his comfort in the pick and roll, which drives offensive execution at the NBA level. He can shoot off a high screen or drive and get to his floater off a screen. As a playmaker, Crutcher plays with his head up and can find his big men for lobs or dump passes. He has great feel and is always looking to find a matchup advantage for his teammates. His intelligence and skill are a good blend at the point guard position.

Crutcher has also proven to be a good shooter, whether it is off the catch or off the bounce. Being able to play on and off-the-ball in shooting scenarios is encouraging from the guard position. However, he does need to improve as a finisher around the rim, where he can struggle against length and lacks explosion to play above the rim.

Defensively, Crutcher possesses above-average lateral quickness, but is not strong in his upper body, which limits the positions he can guard. More physical guards can also bully him around the rim. However, he can contain quick guards well. Crutcher could use improvement guarding off the ball as well.
