Duane Washington Jr
Duane Washington Jr. played collegiate basketball at Ohio State University. He played three seasons for the Buckeyes and chose to forgo his senior season and enter the 2021 NBA Draft.
After going un-drafted in the 2021 NBA Draft, the Indiana Pacers elected to sign Washington Jr. to a two-way contract. He went back and forth between the Pacers and their G-League affiliate, the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. Eventually as the season went on and Washington Jr. played well for the Pacers, they converted his contract to a standard one.
In Washington Jr.’s rookie season, he played in 48 games and made seven starts. He averaged 9.9 points per game with 1.8 assists per game and 1.7 rebounds per game. He shot 40.5 percent from the field while shooting 37.7 percent from three-point range.
The Pacers waived Washington Jr. on July 14th, 2022. Washington Jr. is only 22 years old and showed some promise in his rookie season. His ability to create his own shot by stepping back for a three-pointer or driving to the cup makes him a solid option off the bench at point guard. He would be a less expensive option for the Hornets if they were to reach out to the former Pacer.
