This is the third installment of the “Player Grade” series in which we assess and grade the performance of each Charlotte Hornets player from the 2021-2022 season.

After grading the seasons of LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges, it is time to look back at how Terry Rozier played last season.

Rozier put up solid averages of 19.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game last season. Although he played slightly less minutes and his scoring average dropped a point compared to the 2020-2021 season, his free throw percentage rose from 81.7 percent to 85.2 percent, and he seems to be playing the best basketball of his career.

On top of the great season averages, the eye test is where Rozier gets a lot of credit. His handles consistently mesmerize defenders and give Rozier an opportunity to attempt a step back three, many of which find the bottom of the net. His shiftiness creates scoring looks for himself and his teammates.

Rozier is a natural scorer from all three levels and can shift directions extremely quickly, giving him one of the best crossovers on the team.

In terms of trying to find an obvious weakness in his game this past season, it is honestly not easy. He does not seem to have one individual weakness that is obvious.

In turn, he also does not seem to have a single defined specialty or niche. He was not an incredible three-point shooter last season, but he was above average. He was not the best defender in the world, but he was a decent defender. He was not the fastest player in the league, but he was quick.

The trend for Rozier is clear; while he does not have a detrimental weakness that is cause for alarm, he also has not shown any specialization in any part of his game.

Nevertheless, he was a major part of the Hornets’ success this past season.

Overall Player Grade For The 2021-2022 Season: B+

Rozier played at a high level this past season and although it was not necessarily a breakout year for him, he played his role well and contributed on both ends of the floor.
