Kemba Walker (2011-2019)

To the surprise of absolutely nobody, Kemba Walker earns the top spot on this list.

The Charlotte record book is full of Walker’s accomplishments, as he holds the franchise’s all-time records for points, field goals made, three-pointers made, minutes played, win shares, and value over replacement player. He has the only 60-point game and the only 50-point game in team history.

He helped lead Charlotte to two playoff appearances, including the franchise’s lone playoff wins since returning to the NBA in 2004. Walker led Charlotte in scoring in six of his eight seasons and led the team in points and assists in both playoff series during his tenure.

Walker was named an All-Star in each of his final three seasons in Charlotte, joining Glen Rice (1996-98) as the only three-time All-Star players in franchise history. His 2017 selection ended Charlotte’s longest All-Star drought in team history, as their most recent All-Star to that point was Gerald Wallace in the 2009-10 season. Walker’s 2019 selection was particularly noteworthy, as he became the first Charlotte player to be an All-Star starter since Eddie Jones in 2000. With Charlotte hosting that year’s All-Star festivities, Walker was able to perform on the All-Star stage in front of the Hornets faithful. With no Hornets being named All-Stars in 1991 when Charlotte first hosted the game, Walker became and still remains the lone Charlotte player to ever appear in an All-Star game in front of the home fans.

With reports of Charlotte’s interest in a reunion with Walker, perhaps there is a final chapter for Walker to add to his legacy in the Queen City.
